BACKGROUND

Eric's musical carreer started out with a guitar, bagpipes and pennywhistles, playing Irish folk, cover songs and attempting to follow in the tradition of the East-German songwriters, like Gerhard Gundermann and Gerhard Schöne. As a member of Catriona, he sang and blew (wind instruments) on the album "Rightfull King", but Catriona (that progressed into becoming the Inchtabokatables) split up and Eric pursued the folk/rock existence with Subway to Sally, originally as a bagpipe player, but from the second album on as the singer and frontman.

Years went by, and Eric did obviously not feel that he was enough out on the road with playing the annual ca 100 concerts with the Sallys, so he picked up where he left off years earlier: in 1999 he started touring on his own again, playing the smaller venues with a considerably folkier programme than the one Subway played at the time. Year by year, the audience got bigger - ever asking for a CD, but never getting one. In 2000/2001 he was joined by Rainer Michalek, and then Uwe Nordwig (guitars, vocals). Gerit Hecht joined in the summer of '04, first as a sound engineer, but after a while also onstage.

The band now consists of Eric (vocals, guitar, bagpipes, shawm), Rainer (guitars, vocals, harmonica), Uwe (guitars, vocals) and Gerit (keyboard, background vocals and sound).

Eric again started to write own songs, like Sommerregen, Anders sein, Glotze, Schmutz, Im Spiegel and Deine Tage, and now they are slowly pushing the covered songs aside (sadly also the folk).

2004 finally saw the long awaited CD being released; "Auge in Auge" a live CD. It cannot justify the experience of going to a concert by Eric, though - his concerts often last 4-6 hours, with 40+ songs on the setlist, along with chatter, unbelievably bad jokes and reflections about life, as seen from a fish perspectivce.
